Honeywell announced Monday that it's launching Seymour, a new healthcare software platform that allows consumers to aggregate all their healthcare information under one platform, and to make that information actionable. Addressing the problem of wearables that do not relate to patients' "big picture" health, Honeywell explained that Seymour will analyze and contextualize consumer health data and make it accessible to healthcare providers.

The service is designed to find meaning in dietary, exercise, and medical trends. It also delivers healthcare provider information to the consumer via mobile device, establishing a sort of "on-going, mobile conversation" between patient and doctors.

This is the company's "step-down" solution to a health wearables market that has thus far suffered from inconsistent or unreliable data accumulation. The difference between this platform and others, the company says, is in the creation of customized care plans that put personal data into context. It works as a sort of interpreter for providers and consumers, drawing from health vitals and tracking it against certain health goals—including both short-term and long-term health plans.

The idea behind the new service is to empower providers to monitor the activities of their patients. Physicians, for example, should be able to respond to medication changes made by the patient. Seymour is designed to address these issues by further connecting patiemt and physician.

Seymour will launch later this year, and will run for under $100 a month.

In a separate announcement, Honeywell revealed that it's changing the name of its health arm from Honeywell Home Med to Honeywell Life Care Solutions.
