Amid all its television, smartphone, smart home, and home appliance announcements this morning, LG reinforced its expanding presence in the wearable technology market.

At the center of the announcement is the LG G Watch R, an Android Wear–powered smartwatch with a round, 1.3-inch plastic OLED display. Also on display at IFA 2014 is the LG KizON, a wristband that can help parents keep tabs on their preschool and primary school–aged kids. Both products should hit American stores later this fall.

The G Watch R’s most obvious competition this holiday season will be the Motorola Moto 360 and the new Samsung Gear S.

The G Watch R’s most obvious competition this holiday season will be the as-yet-unannounced Motorola Moto 360 and the new Samsung Gear S, which was announced just last week. Also on the radar is the ZenWatch, a new sub-$200 smartwatch from Asus that is also making an appearance at IFA.

The wearables announcements arrived this morning alongside fanfare for LG’s flexible 4K OLED TV—a first in the consumer market—as well as variants on its G3 flagship smartphone and a range of smart, energy-efficient appliances.
